Toilet seat hole spacing is the distance between the centres of the two fixing holes in the pan. It helps compare the replacement fittings but does not identify the toilet on its own. Measure the ceramic holes rather than assuming that the visible hinge pins sit directly above their centres.
Measure centres rather than the gap between edges
When the holes are accessible, measure along the line joining their centres. For two equal circular holes, measuring from one edge to the corresponding edge of the other hole gives a useful cross-check. An inside-edge-to-inside-edge measurement gives a different value. Record the unit, preferably millimetres, without generous rounding.
When the mounting plates hide the holes
Eccentric or slotted plates can offset the pivot pins from the ceramic holes. Their visible spacing may therefore be misleading. Do not dismantle an unfamiliar fixing just to measure it: find its instructions first. If the true centres remain hidden, describe the reading as approximate and photograph the assembly.
Understanding an adjustment range
A stated range applies to that particular hinge system in its intended orientation. Check fore-and-aft travel, usable hole diameter and depth, and whether access is from above or below. There is no universal allowance: two kits advertising the same spacing range may have different geometry and anchoring requirements.
Checks beyond the hole spacing
Confirm the brand, exact series and version, then compare length from the drawing’s stated reference, width, outline, buffer supports and rear clearance. Never drill or enlarge ceramic holes to make a fitting work. Eccentric hinges position an otherwise compatible seat; they do not turn any seat into a dedicated replacement.
Replacement questions
Are hinge pin spacing and pan hole spacing always equal?
No. Adjustable plates can position the pins away from the centres of the pan holes.
Is a measurement inside the stated range enough to buy?
It checks one requirement only. Confirm the stated toilet compatibility, profile, supports and fixing kit as well.
Model pages and Sintesibagno.shop examples
These links show examples in the dedicated catalogue for a toilet that has already been identified. Check current availability, lead time, material and included fittings on the product page. A single example does not represent the whole range.

Checks before ordering
- Confirm the toilet brand, range and exact version. The logo identifies the maker but does not by itself identify the model or the right replacement.
- Compare the complete outline, rear profile and support points. Record length, maximum width and fixing-centre distance as checks, rather than treating measurements as proof of fit.
- Check whether the fixings install from above or below. The hardware must suit both the bowl and the new seat hinges.
- Read the material, closing and release specifications. Soft-close and quick-release are different features and do not make seats from different ranges interchangeable.
- Check the exact named finish and colour. Photos, lighting and screens cannot confirm a ceramic shade. Check included accessories and delivery time too.
